Felted Soap
In this time of endlessly washing our hands I thought it would be fun to wash your hands and make something at the same time, felted soap- a simple, fun and appropriate project for these times.
Sewing is my Superpower Embroidery
I have been thinking a lot about sewing and my students and how each one them has their own unique power through the work they have done with their hands. Sewing is indeed powerful and thus makes it a superpower and my students super powerful.
Hope Bunting
In this time of racial unrest in our country I wanted to give students the opportunity to express themselves in solidarity with the Black Lives Matter movement by sewing and displaying a Hope bunting. This gesture obviously won’t fix systematic racism but the more signs of solidarity we hang and see the more we may move minds (and policy) The bunting background color is yellow, the color of hope.
3D House Frame
Our homes have held us and kept us safe during these last few months. In honor of that a 3-D house frame to hold a photo of your house, family or friends.
Circle Journal
We miss our friends. Share time with friends that isn’t virtual or six feet apart.. Write, draw, tell a story, write a poem, make a collage in this circle journal and mail or safely distance deliver to one, a couple or a group of friends and wait for the journal to come back to you.
Every Cloud has a Silver Lining (or a blue sky) Pillow
An expression we have heard over and over again during these last months and it’s true. To remind us a cozy pillow that symbolizes that adage.
Extraordinary Times, Extraordinary Thoughts Notebook
In these extraordinary times we all are having extraordinary thoughts. Here’s a notebook to jot down those thoughts. The notebook has a patch with an inspirational quote from the late John Lewis, to honor Representative Lewis and to remind us “We may not have chosen the time, but the time has chosen us.”
