About Christina Selian
For the past ten years I have been teaching children’s craft sewing classes out of my Highland Park home in Rochester, NY. Influenced by my beloved grandmothers I have always loved sewing, creating and working with my hands. I want to pass this love on. I take great pride in creating a welcoming, safe and nurturing environment for children to learn, have fun and be creative. I try to inspire each child to reach their unique creative potential while teaching them the basics and fundamentals of sewing and design and like my grandmothers showed me, I want to show children the beauty, strength, creativity and capability of their hands.
I graduated from Emerson College with a degree in theatre arts. I started my career as an artist-in-residence for Boston’s Theatreworks where I met my husband, Geva Theatre Center artistic director Mark Cuddy. I spent the past 20 years raising our two sons, Maximilian and Augustus, while maintaining a freelance career as a theatrical costume designer. I launched a craft business, Felt Queen, in 2000. The business began as a passion for creating costumes and playthings for my own children. I began to encourage and inspire creative sewing with a series of children’s sewing kits. In 2010 I started teaching children's craft sewing classes.
